The company started out on its great adventure in 1979 under the name Cono Sud. It entered the market with a range of biscuit cones with an irresistible, sophisticated taste. The production plant at Calitri consisted of 4 manual machines producing 12 thousand cones a day. The cones were an instant success.
The second decade was full of new developments. The number of machines doubled, in order to respond speedily and professionally to the constant increase in market demand. The company began production of its Sicilian cannolo, a strategic decision aimed at deseasonalising its output. An advertising and marketing campaign was launched, and the company participated in a trade fair for the first time. The company then changed its name to I.CO.Cialde, and with its new logo it set out to win international recognition.
Growth was unstoppable. This decade saw huge investments, to keep the company at the cutting edge of change. The first automated machine was introduced, bringing production up to 3,500 items an hour. The artisan tradition of I.CO. Cialde’s recipes was thus supported by continuous innovation, with an ever increasing range of cones, wafers and decorations that made an indelible mark on the world of gelato and pastry making.
At I.CO.Cialde, the present is already geared to the future. Its research and development team works ceaselessly to devise new recipes that anticipate emerging market demands. The team directly involves the customers in its work, since the company pays maximum attention to customer preferences. After 40 years we know that this is only the beginning. Our history continues sweetly far into the distant future.
